Emma Stephenson

Contemporary Jazz

Emma has been a lover of dance since she started ballet at the age of three. Growing up in Edmonton, she dove into her dance training by enrolling in almost every discipline offered at her studio- Edmonton Dance Factory. In her final year of competitive dancing she was awarded the Lindsay Thomas Memorial award which acknowledged Emma’s amazing sportsmanship and vibrant spirit. After completing high school, Emma’s enthusiasm to pursue a professional career was unwavering and before she knew it she was on a flight to Asia to assist Wendi Danbrook on So You Think You Can Dance Vietnam. From there, Emma was accepted into Harbour Dance Centre’s Intensive Training program, moving her home base to Vancouver, BC.

Growing up, one of Emma’s favourite past times was attending dance conventions. Now, Emma has been a touring assistant for Triple Threat Dance Convention for six years where she has assisted world class choreographers such as Sean Cheeseman, Megan Lawson, Jillian Meyers, Jason Samuels Smith, Comfort Fedoke and Tyce Dyorio.

Emma has completed four distinguished contracts with Royal Caribbean International, where she was both a featured dancer and aerialist. While performing on some of the most innovative and largest ships in the world, Emma expanded and developed her aerial training making her not only a dynamic mover on the ground, but also in the air. She also had the opportunity to strengthen her partnering skills and amplify her vocal training.

Since returning to Vancouver, Emma has plunged into the film industry. A highlight has been working with Mandy Moore on the new NBC Series, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. Since her return to land-life, she has been indulging in dance classes, as well as acting workshops to continue working on her craft. Emma’s strong work ethic and attention to detail make her a breeze to work with- not to mention her infectious and joyous energy. Everyday she is thankful for the ability to share her passion for dance and is excited for what the future holds.
