Emily Noton

Emily grew up and trained in Edmonton, where she started her career with Citie Ballet after years of competing in all disciplines. She is a true multi-genre performer and teacher who holds a B.A. from the University of Alberta, and a diploma in Arts Administration from Grant MacEwan University that she completed while dancing. In addition to Citie Ballet she also performed with the Russian Vaganova Society and Mile Zero Dance Company in Canada. In New York she performed with the Graham-based Saba Dance Theatre and LiNK Contemporary Jazz Dance Company, and in Philadelphia with the Rebecca Davis Dance Company. Internationally, she worked with several ballet schools in Okinawa, Japan, and taught at Broadway Dance Centre in Tokyo. In addition to ballet and contemporary concert dance, Emily has performed with music legend Mannheim Steamroller, and Zach Galifianakis, star of “The Hangover”. She has modeled for the renowned dance photographer Lois Greenfield, and has been sponsored by Bloch dancewear and Sansha. While living in New York she used her diverse talents to collaborate with the creatively renowned Crunch Gyms to film dance fitness videos and do TV publicity for the company, and has also appeared as a background dancer in art films.

In addition to all of this exciting work, she has always remained very committed and enthusiastic about teaching dance at all levels and has branched out to training actors in New York as well. Emily is passionate about the pursuit of physical training in dance and has her Certified Personal Trainer designation from NASM in the US. One of her newest endeavors with colleagues in New York was the formation of PAC (Performing Arts Collective), which tours the North East area conducting performance workshops for pre-professionals. Recently, she has choreographed new work for Alberta's International Feats Festival of Dance, was the guest choreographer for Motif 2011 at the University of Alberta, and has been adjudicating across North America. She is excited to be back in Canada and Vancouver-based!

  • Ballet 2
  • Ballet: Helps to build a strong base, clean technique and proper alignment, all of which are essential for any kind of dance. Barre exercises, combinations across the floor and adagio are taught to live piano accompaniment. Level 2: This is a high intermediate class for those who prefer a fast-paced and complex class.

  • Ballet 3
  • Ballet: Helps to build a strong base, clean technique and proper alignment, all of which are essential for any kind of dance. Barre exercises, combinations across the floor and adagio are taught to live piano accompaniment. Level 3: This is our most advanced level directed towards long-time enthusiasts and professionals.

  • Ballet 1
  • Ballet: Helps to build a strong base, clean technique and proper alignment, all of which are essential for any kind of dance. Barre exercises, combinations across the floor and adagio are taught to live piano accompaniment.

    Level: 1 is for dancers with anywhere from one to four years experience who enjoy a slower-paced class with less complex dance steps.
