Sabrina Comanescu

Sabrina “Naz” Comanescu is a dynamic member of the Calgary Dance Community especially in the urban and Caribbean dance scene through her work as an instructor, performer, and choreographer. As a performer, Naz has worked with House of Dangerkat and The Bad Girls Club YYC and has also had the opportunity to train and perform in Trinidad and Tobago, Finland, New York City and Romania on several occasions. Select credits include: Nordic Moves, Hedley, Diplo, Kingdom, Cherie Lily, and Umi Marcano. Naz’s choreography has also been presented by MPACT’s Something to Say, Tania & Vish Entertainment’s ONE Colors of World Dance, Carifest Calgary, Cariwest Edmonton, Global Fest and North Vancouver’s Caribbean Days. Naz is also the Founder and Artistic Director of Casa De Naz, which is a collective of artists mixing dance, music, fashion, and film all with a modern Caribbean flare in favor enlightening art hubs across Canada about the thriving Caribbean communities within Calgary and the vivacious performing and visual arts of the Caribbean.

Raymond Johnson-Brown

Raymond started training at the age of 13 in his junior high dance class in Calgary, AB where he first discovered that he had a natural gift to perform. This discovery led Raymond to train in a diverse range of dance styles and now currently focuses on commercial hip hop and high heels choreography. In the past Raymond has been apart of OIP Dance Centre's The CAST Dance Company (Toronto), Sarah Dolan's O2 Dance Company (Calgary), Edgars Gilbert-Reyes' IllFX Entertainment (Calgary), and Decidedly Jazz Danceworks Jazz Extension Program (Calgary). Raymond has had the opportunity to work with established choreographers including Sarah Dolan, Edgar Gilbert-Reyes, and Ashley Irvin on various projects. Currently Raymond is a faculty member at Harbour Dance Centre, the Artistic Director of SNAP boys, a men in heels dance company, a national instructor/choreographer, and commercial dancer/actor residing in Vancouver, BC.
Dancehall is a mix of authentic Jamaican social dance moves with some hip hop influences. This class will look at the foundations and movement qualities associated with Dancehall and work on developing a solid vocabulary of Dancehall steps and combining them into combinations.

Prepare to whine your body, get low, and feel high! Whether you’ve never experienced Dancehall before or you’re a true Dancehall Queen, come sweat it out “pon de floor!
